We made it to Morelia!

We are in Morelia... central Mexico!
This is how we started the day yesterday and today! Breakfast at Mcdonalds where they have wireless internet and 'doosies'!

A quick look at the rocks and waves in Mazatlan before we headed south and into territory that we had never seen befire...

Then it was just highway driving... or highway robbery! Toll booths every 20 minutes charging us $10 to $20 bucks each!! Man alive! Just the drive from Mazatlan to Tepic the next city had 3 or 4 toll booths!

Then we hit the mountains... it was gorgeous rocks and scenery. We were higher than Timberline lodge in Oregon!

Trying to get thru Guadalajara was like trying to get thru LA. We only had one wrong turn where we stopped at a gas station and asked dirrections!

All along the way there were cute little towns... the closer we got to Morelia, the more there were.

Then we arrived in Morelia where we had a quick drive thru downtown. There was the most impressive cathedral all lit up with a plaza and lots of gorgeous lights. It was really breathtaking.

Today we have to grab the highway to Mexico city... find a way across that huge city.. then head to Puebla where we have our first event tomorrow.
Its been fun to see the countryside!

Head South!

Hey there guys!

…and we are off!
We hit the road for our tour south with the teacher training workshop and curriculum distribution. Dwight wanted to pile up everything to take yesterday morning to take a picture of it. Then we were shocked at what all we were planning on putting into the Astrovan! Poor thing!!! But it loaded just fine, and we have managed our first full day of travel.

We are in Mazatlan this morning! Its gorgeous of course… and last night we found a perfect taco joint that served baked potatoes with lots of butter, tons of cheese, and a whole ton of grilled steak meat. They were delicious, and that joint is prob Dwight’s favorite dinner spot now in Mazatlan.

We had car trouble yesterday from the get-go and were stopping every 10 minutes to put water in the radiator… until then Dwight decided that the radiator had cracked and we needed a new one. We had just arrived to Mochis, so it wasn’t bad. 5 ‘yonke’ shops later and we had us a radiator, nearby was the mechanic who put it in. The crazy part was that I used the downtime to write! Jajaja I got my space applications done for 2010 VBS. Awesome.

D and I both woke up this morning at 5:30 our time and 6:30 for Mazatlan… and the boardwalk is loaded with people getting in their morning exercise.

Dwight and I have never been farther south in Mexico than Tepic, and we will cross thru that today… so this shall be fun. :)

This trip is for the people of Mexico… but I will enjoy the scenery along the way!
Hopr to keep you updated!
