We had quite the week, with a hurricane going right by us, dumping a ton of water, and blowing pretty hard. The actual storm at our home wasn't too bad at all, it was very windy, you could hardly walk in it without getting blown over, and there was rain for over 24 hours straight, so there is water everywhere! Our little plazita was totally flooded, and it came up to the doors, but not inside, except for specific leaks here and there. I put towels out for the specific leaks, so I had a bunch of laundry to do, once I finally got electricity back. Also, Dwight has been out in the mud a lot, so there was mud all over the floors. We have all the windows open for air-flow, or it wouldn't be tolerable in here, so rain did come in thru a few windows, but we thought it worth it. I did have quite the mess to deal with, and everything in the house got totally soggy!
We are definitely thrilled that our home is set-up and ready to… EVEN WITHSTAND A HURRICANE!
The worse part for me… was that the power went out and stayed out for over 2 days! So, it was HOT and MUGGY and we had no air-conditioning. Also, we had no running water, since it works with the electrical pumps. We put a bucket out under the roof to catch rain water so that we could flush the toilet! Dwight hooked up the generator so that we could take a shower, but it was FREEZING! We did bring in all our outdoor stuff, and made sure that anything loose was protected from the high winds.
Anyway, Tuesday, Dwight turned off his computer, to give me the battery pack from his so that I could work on the laptop with as much juice as possible. I had about 2 ½ hours of battery between the laptop battery and the protector box from Dwight's comp. Since I was so close to finishing the first book of the new curriculum, I dove in, and right around the time the center of the storm hit us, I FINISHED THE FIRST BOOK!!! So, we sang songs and celebrated as we paced inside and outside, watching the storm!
Thursday we drove around checking out the damage and checking on how our "peeps" (workers) handled the storm. We were thinking that if one of them lost their roof, we should get out there and help them, but thank God, everyone was just fine.
Most workers didnt return to work the rest of the week, so it has been rather slow around here. Monday will start us back into the grind.
Thank you so much for all your prayers for us. We are very grateful that the Lord protected us, and our local friends this past week

Dwight and I really enjoy taking RESTING seriously on Sundays. Even though we support churches and pastors, who are very busy Sundays... they use us for their prep work which is during the week. Sundays we have the least visitors because everyone is busy with their churches. :) Makes for nice resting.
At first we were attending different local churches, and preaching at times, but we have decided to stop that gig, mostly because it takes a lot of time, these services are long, and they feel so foreign. We only have a certain amount of time to work each week, and we feel we have found a more fruitful ministy. So... we do 'gringo' church together each Sunday morning. :) It's wonderful!
We worship with a CD, then go to the internet church- starting with Lifechurch.tv (because they have live services on-line every week.)
The next order of business on a Sunday is to take a nap. Then it is tv watching, visiting, and reading. We both enjoy a good book on Sunday. I have a couple that really get me inspired for the ministry. Dwight and I enjoy teasing... some books get me so fired up, that Dwight teases hiding them from me when we get too busy, or short on cash! :) (ministry always takes cash) :)
My favorite is a biography on Henrietta Mears... she wrote curriculum for children, and started Gospel Light. I love the bok, but always finish a chapter with some new idea. :) I think I have read it three times now.
Then we head to bed early. Gatta get a good start to Monday's work day! Our restful Sundays help me push thru the week, and I can really feel the need by Friday!!!
